HAWAII WEDDINGS - AN EPIC NIGHT OF DANCING IN THE TROPICS

It is one thing to play music in one of the most beautiful destinations on the planet. It’s another thing entirely to do so for a crowd as committed to partying as this one! Jack & Jasmine could not have been a more gracious couple leading up to the big day, and their humble nature was a scarce indicator of the unhinged soiree we would encounter on the Big Island of Hawaii. The dance floor was packed from the first song of the night through the last, with the exception of a short intermission for a customary Hawaiian fire-dancing show. There were dance circles, crowd-surfers, and air-guitars galore. The most rewarding part of performing in a cover band is that visceral connection we form with a music-loving crowd. All told, Crowd Theory’s adventure to Hawaii was one of our most rewarding musical experiences to date! The slow-motion video below features one of Jack & Jasmine’s song requests—”I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by The Darkness.

Crowd Theory Opens for 80s Rock Legend Billy Idol

To say this was a highlight of our careers would be an understatement. The concert at Petco Park in San Diego was replete with light shows, pyrotechnics, stage antics, and—of course—plenty of rock n roll. Not only was it an honor to share the stage with this glam-rock titan, but Billy Idol was ever the gracious host. After the show, the band got to hang out with him and crack jokes backstage in his green room. Crowd Theory was also excited to have The Straytones’ lead vocalist Heath Francis join us for the show.

Here’s a shot of the band doing soundcheck earlier in the day, hours before showtime.
